At Bugei Trading Company we spend a significant amount of time and energy using and testing the swords that we sell. This kenjutsu and tameshigiri is one of our pleasures as well as our responsibility. We like to challenge ourselves as well as our blades. The better we get, the better we can design and evaluate the swords we sell to you, our customers. Using the very swords we sell is our testament to their quality and function. At the Blade Show in Orange County both James and Tony cut cleanly through goza with 1 inch oak dowels in the center. This was done with no loss of edge to the blade which James demonstrated by cleanly slicing paper with the Samurai katana that had just cut through the oak.

Bugei offers three different kinds of wara for cutting as well as two different cutting stands. Out Bugei Wara has become very popular and we sell a lot of it. It is longer and wider (6'x4') and rolls up thicker, as is evidenced by the picture below, than other goza. It cuts clean like goza omote without the stress and abrasion that goza omote places on the blade. It is also the most economical to cut.

We are offering a new Bugei Goza that is much tougher than any other Goza on the market. The picture below shows our new Bugei Goza at the bottom, beach mat in the middle, and the Bugei Wara at the top. Because our Bugei Goza is challenging to cut it is not necessary to cut as many rolls. 1/2 mats can be used for most practice and the vast majority of practitioners will be seriously challenged by the time three mats are rolled together. Since this is a new mat there are no abrasive materials in our goza as can be the case with used goza. To get the most out of your practice and to avoid injury please get proper training before attempting Tameshigiri.
